MOUNT NELSON TO OPEN NEW RESTAURANT AND SUITE
This December, Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, Cape Town, will unveil Amura by Ángel León, the chef’s first restaurant outside Spain and his African debut. The restaurant offers an immersive marine dining experience inspired by the Cape coastline, featuring innovative sea-sourced ingredients and sustainable culinary practices. Guests can choose à la carte or tasting menus highlighting unsung fish species, kelp, wild herbs, and fire-cooked dishes.
The interiors, designed by Tristan du Plessis, draw inspiration from Cape Town’s kelp forests, creating a cinematic, marine-inspired atmosphere.
Alongside Amura, the hotel will also launch the Thebe Magugu Suite and Magugu House Cape Town, marking the designer’s debut in luxury hospitality design.
Kove Collection will open The Cole in Cape Town’s Sea Point this December. The 5-star boutique hotel will feature 60 suites, a rooftop restaurant, cocktail bar, spa, and boutique.
Designed for travellers and locals who love luxury, The Cole blends bold design with effortless comfort.Dining highlights include Figo, a rooftop Mediterranean-inspired restaurant, and Script, a cocktail bar focused on experiential mixology. Boutique Marly offers 24 designer resort-wear brands, while the Urban Spa features a sauna, cold plunge pool, and treatment rooms.
BROOKDALE ESTATE TO LAUNCH EXCLUSIVE-USE LODGE
Brookdale Estate in the Paarl Winelands will expand its accommodation offerings with The Lodge at Brookdale, opening in the first quarter of 2026. The lodge will host up to eight guests in four en-suite bedrooms, with shared living areas and terraces overlooking the vineyards and Drakenstein mountains.
Rates include breakfast and morning housekeeping, with additional services such as a private chef and butler available on request. The lodge complements the estate’s existing five-bedroom Manor House, Bistro, and wine-tasting room.
CAPE TOWN’S SCHAPENBERG NATURE RESERVE
The City of Cape Town has officially opened the Schapenberg Nature Reserve in Somerset West, expanding its network of protected areas.
Situated on the western slopes of the Schapenberg Hills, the reserve offers panoramic views of False Bay and the surrounding mountain ranges. Covering 14 hectares of critically endangered Swartland Shale Renosterveld, it is home to numerous threatened plant species and adjoins the private 40-hectare Boskloof Conservation Area, with potential connections to nearby Vergelegen Nature Reserve and the Hottentots Holland Mountains.
The reserve is open daily from sunrise to sunset, offering walking, hiking, and birdwatching. Future plans include additional trails, guided walks, night walks, and environmental education programmes.
INTERCONTINENTAL TABLE BAY TO WELCOME LE BISTROT DE JAN
The newly renovated InterContinental Table Bay Hotel at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront is set to elevate its dining offering this December with the opening of Le Bistrot de JAN.
Led by award-winning South African chef Jan Hendrik van der Westhuizen, the new restaurant will bring the charm of French bistro culture to the Mother City, infused with distinct South African flavours. Guests can expect casual yet elegant dining, signature cocktails, and live jazz evenings, all with breathtaking views of Table Mountain and the harbour.
This exciting addition marks a new chapter for the InterContinental Table Bay, blending world-class hospitality with culinary artistry in one of Cape Town’s most iconic locations.
