BLACK@ Industry Updates 17 December 2025

MARBLE TO OPEN FIRST HOTEL IN SANDTON

Marble Hospitality will open its first 5-star hotel in Sandton as part of the Olympus Sandton development by Tricolt Group and Growthpoint Properties.

The 32-room hotel will be located on 2 floors beneath the penthouses in Tower 2 and will be fully managed and branded by Marble Hospitality. Founder and Partner Gary Kyriacou says the hotel is a natural extension of the Marble brand, bringing the same focus on detail, creativity and luxury that has defined its dining experiences.

The development will also include a Marble Restaurant on the 18th floor with 360-degree views of Sandton, a Pantry by Marble on the ground floor, and a breakfast and lunch offering at podium level.

Construction began in November 2025, with completion expected by the end of 2027. The hotel is set to open in mid-2028.

Maloba Private Game Reserve opened on 1 December near Kimberley, introducing a new luxury lodge set within 20 000 hectares of wilderness. The privately owned reserve, founded by the Perridon Family, accommodates a maximum of 10 guests across 5 suites.

The lodge is located 30 minutes from Kimberley Airport by road or 15 minutes by helicopter. 4 suites feature private plunge pools, indoor and outdoor showers, fireplaces and bush-facing decks, while the Diamond Suite offers an expanded pool, private firepit, panoramic views and a private safari vehicle.

Guests can enjoy twice-daily game drives with sightings of white and black rhino, cheetah, buffalo and nocturnal species. Lions are set to be reintroduced in March 2026. Additional experiences include helicopter safaris, horseback riding and visits to an active diamond mine.

Wellness and spa facilities are planned to open in 2026.

LOLELUNGA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE TO OPEN IN ZAMBIA

A new safari destination, Lolelunga Private Game Reserve, will open 30 km north of Zambia’s Kafue National Park in August. The 30 000 hectare reserve will feature a luxury lodge accommodating up to 14 guests across 6 rooms, including standard rooms, junior suites and a family suite.

The lodge, set on the banks of the Lunga River, will offer fully inclusive stays with twice-daily game drives, walking safaris, fishing, canoeing and archery. Facilities will include a spa, gym, rim-flow swimming pool and a private deck for dining or sleepouts.

The restored reserve is home to lion, cheetah, buffalo and elephant, with black rhino to be reintroduced. The project also supports the local Kaonde community through schools, water projects and agricultural initiatives, with access provided by a new private airstrip.
