NEW COURSE / BEST COURSE TO VISIT / EXPLORE A COURSE
Leopard Creek is one of just three South African courses in the World Top 100, described as, “a pure bushveld theatre.”
Set on the Crocodile River it delivers a true Kruger-edge adventure, famous for the Alfred Dunhill Championship, where the wildlife often steals the show. Exclusive, but not closed.
Stay at an approved lodge and one plays for a green fee of R5 750. Having undergone a major upgrade refreshed bunkers, greens and turf, reworked the par-3 12th, and replaced thirsty kikuyu with resilient indigenous cynodont; greener, tougher, made for the bushveld heat for a greener, more sustainable finish.
HOW TO WITH SABINE/THE RULES OF THE GAME/GOLF ETIQUETTE
How to with Sabine / The rules of the game / Golf etiquette
A how to with Golf@ General Manager, Sabine Pfeiffer.
We dive into the 101, beginner or professional we tailor made this Golf series about etiquette and basic rules.
How long does a round of play take?
A lot of factors can be considered when playing such as skill level, number of players, pace at which the game is going and difficulty level of the course. It is however always important to consider other players on the course as time can be a factor if other players are present. Golf carts help with quickly navigating around the course.
A typical 18-Hole course can take 3 to 4 hours to complete however this is not accurate. The design of the course will have an impact on play and how long it takes.
How to enjoy your game?
- Plan: Be prepared, book tee time in advance, check the weather forecast and be on time.
- Equipment Check: Ensure your golf bag is properly stocked with essential equipment, bring snacks, water, sunscreen and maybe an extra layer of clothing to stay comfortable.
- Warm Up: A good sportsman knows a warm-up session helps with easing the body into game mode and ensuring you do not injure yourself whilst playing.
Bring good vibes: Most importantly enjoy the game, create memories and have fun!
GUIDE FOR WINE LOVERS BEGINNER OR NOT
Dive into the world of Wine as we take you on a journey either as a newbie or refreshing your knowledge, we have the thing for you.
Discover South African Wine blends,
White type:
Sauvignon Blanc
The most consumed white varietal in South Africa.
- Not very tropical, more citrus and acidic fresh fruit notes
- Good to try some lightly oaked versions (Blanc fume) or ones which have spent some time on the Lees (yeast cells in tank) which gives it a rounder mouthfeel and more depth with the same fresh nature it’s loved for.
- Top picks for the season: Rickety bridge Paulina’s reserve, Raats Driefontein Blanc, Ghost Corner
Red type:
Cabernet Sauvignon
Known for its rich, complex layers, this premium South African wine type from regions like Stellenbosch.
- The robust structure makes it ideal for aging, with premium examples cellaring for 10-20 years.
- Classic Bordeaux which is often the backbone of some of our favourite, Bordeaux blends in South Africa
- Beautifully earthy with dark fruits, it’s the kind of wine to pair with a hearty meal.
- Top picks for the season: Alto, Le Riche, Stark Conde
