Take an underwater adventure in Malawi’s massive freshwater aquarium. One of the more famous freshwater dives in the world. There are more species of colourful Cichlid fish here than any other lake on the planet.
The large Lake Malawi is ideal for all levels of divers, but especially for those just starting or learning new skills. What makes it so wonderful for the beginner is it has little current and no swells. An attraction of diving Lake Malawi is the interesting rock formations. The lake has a depth of 700m, but most diving takes place above 20m.
The best time of year to dive in the lake is from September to December. Divers will see endemic Cichlid species begin their complex mating rituals. It’s fascinating to watch their mouths brood.
