AIRLINES SHOWCASE AIRPORT AND FLIGHT PROCEDURES
Both Mango Airlines and FlySafair resumed flying on Monday, 15 June, allowing for business travellers to travel to other provinces in South Africa during level 3 lockdown. The airlines are trying to adapt to the ‘new normal’ of flying, and are taking the necessary precautions to ensure that travellers feel safe. MPUMALANGA: FIRST ROUND OF SIGHTINGS AT KRUGER
There was beauty and action form the first few days at the Kruger National Park. Visitors were happy to once again explore the wonders of the Kruger National Park when it reopened to locals on Monday 8 June, and the photos are absolutely breathtaking. NAMIBIA: GONDWANA REOPENS WITH NEW LODGE
The Gondwana Collection Namibia opened a new lodge, Etosha King Nehale Lodge, on 10 June as it begins to reopen most properties within the group. The 40-room lodge, which is on the Andoni Plains in the King Nehale Conservancy, was meant to open in May but due to the nationwide lockdown, the opening date was moved. Under stage 3 of the State of Emergency, announced by Namibia’s President Hage Geingob on 28 May, to comply with hygiene standards and social distancing rules, the meal plans at the lodges have been adapted and day visitors are not permitted. Gondwana Collection Namibia will continue to monitor the state of affairs and the resulting changes to the Namibian tourism industry and guests’ needs.
