VIRGIN REOPENS SA-UK ROUTE
Virgin Atlantic will resume operating passenger flights three times a week between London Heathrow and Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International from June 24. The airline has not yet published the schedule, but has advised they will do shortly.

BA WILL RESUME SA-UK FLIGHTS ONCE A WEEK
British Airways has announced the resumption of its flights between London and Johannesburg. The flights will restart on June 25, operating once a week until July 16,  but no further details on the frequency have been provided beyond that date.

BA57 departs LHR at 10.35pm on Fridays and arrives in JNB at 10.40am the following day. BA54 departs JNB at 9.15pm on Saturdays and arrives in LHR at 7.35am the following day.

US REVISES SOUTH AFRICA’S RISK ALERT FROM LEVEL 4 TO LEVEL 3
The inbound travel trade celebrated following news that the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has moved South Africa from risk alert Level 4 to Level 3. This risk-level rating recommends travel for those US citizens who have been fully vaccinated.

MOZAMBIQUE: AIRLINK RESUMES NELSPRUIT TO VILANCULOS FLIGHTS
Airlink will resume scheduled air services from Nelspruit to Vilanculos, Mozambique from 2 July 2021. The Nelspruit to Vilanculos schedule will take place on Monday and Friday, departing Nelspruit at 11.50am and arriving at Vilanculos at 1.00pm.

Flights between Johannesburg and Vilanculos will depart Johannesburg (4Z260) at 11.35am and arrive at Vilanculos at 1.05pm, and flights between Vilanculos and Johannesburg (4Z261) will depart at 1.35pm and arrive at 3.20pm.

AIRLINK LAUNCHES NEW ROUTE TO ENTEBBE, UGANDA
Airlink has revealed that it will fly from Johannesburg to Entebbe in Uganda, from July 19, 2021. Flights on the route will operate four times a week.

Flight 4Z 190 departs Johannesburg at 9.15pm, arriving in Entebbe at 2.30am on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flight 4Z 191 departs Entebbe at 3.30am, arriving in Johannesburg at 7am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

KENYA: US MOVES KENYA FROM RISK LEVEL 3 TO LEVEL 2
Kenya is one of 50 countries moved to the CDC’s risk level 2 earlier this week, indicating a moderate level of COVID-19 in the country. This will instill further confidence in the safety of the destination regarding COVID-19, and the country’s tourism and hospitality sector players have committed to adhering to all safety and hygiene protocols.

KENYA: KENYA LIFTS UK FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS
Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lifted all flight restrictions between the United Kingdom and the East African country. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority noted that all arriving passengers from the UK should be in possession of a valid COVID-19 negative PCR test, conducted within 96 hours prior to travelling.
