EASTERN CAPE: SAMARA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE UPDATE
Samara’s conservation contribution to all guests which goes towards anti-poaching, rhino & elephant protection and cheetah conservation will increase effective immediately to R150 pppn for South African guests and R300 pppn for international guests. The Sibella Suites at Karoo Lodge which consists of 2 inter-leading suites are now bookable as a unit sleeping 4 guests, and can no longer be booked on a per person basis. Refurbishments and upgrades to Karoo Lodge and its rooms are planned for September 2020 in time for a re-launch to coincide with the new rate season starting on 1 November 2020. A new peak season has been introduced for the period over Christmas and New Year. In 2020-21 this peak season will run from 20 December to 10 January. During this time, The Manor will only be bookable on an exclusive-use basis.

MPUMALANGA: SKUKUZA SAFARI LODGE SOFT LAUNCH
The new Skukuza Safari Lodge situated in the south of the Kruger National Park is almost ready to welcome guests with a special rate for last-minute holidaymakers. The lodge will open a limited number of rooms as part of a soft launch. In preparation for an official opening in 2020, SANParks is using this period as a test phase and is inviting guests to provide constructive feedback in preparation for the full launch. SANParks is offering guests a 20% discounted rate for stays between 30 December 2019 to 31 January 2020. At this stage, the lodge will have limited services and restaurant and catering will not be available, however, guests will have access to all catering services and other amenities at the Skukuza camp. The design is based on a 3-star facility offering 4-star service. The lodge has 128 rooms with a combination of 8 luxury suites, standard rooms and family rooms, including universal access rooms.

WESTERN CAPE: CAMPS BAY HOTEL REBRANDS AFTER RENOVATION
Following a 5-month renovation and expansion, The Marly hotel has reopened and rebranded as The Marly Boutique Hotel & Spa. The property now boasts a new level featuring 29 additional suites. There is also a luxury gift shop, a gym and The Marly Spa. The spa offers a range of treatments including massages, facials, manicures and pedicures. The new rooftop venue, Baptiste, offers a pool, bar and lounge.

WESTERN CAPE: ST JAMES OF KNYSNA RENOVATIONS
St James recently announced that phase 1 of the renovations are complete, and the Manor house is looking great. Guests can enjoy the new lounge and bar, as well as the new dining room and the lovely new patio overlooking the Knysna Lagoon. The hotel is set to introduce 4 new rooms at a later stage, and are set to all boast stunning views. Along with the renovations, St James also announced a new policy which will come into effect from 1 March 2020. The hotel will no longer accommodate children under the age of 12 years, and they will also do away with 3rd and 4th person sharing in the rooms.

MOZAMBIQUE: AZURA RETREATS EXPANDS
Azura Retreats has acquired Marlin Lodge on Benguerra Island, Mozambique, which is currently undergoing development and is set to open as Azura Marlin Beach later in 2020. Azura is working with existing infrastructure to redevelop the property into a new five-star boutique hotel following fire damage back in 2012. 10 family villas will be completely refurbished and will feature 2 bedrooms and a pool, and 9 individual beachfront villas. The property will also receive a new front of house, water sports and spa areas, and the main pool area will be refreshed. 10 new rooms will be added, bringing the capacity to 20 rooms and over 50 beds.

ZIMBABWE: THE GOLDEN PEACOCK EXPANDS
The Golden Peacock Villa Hotel in Mutare is adding a new wing with 54 rooms and a 400-seat conferencing facility. This will bring total guest rooms to 137 and 6 conference facilities that can accommodate 1370 guests. The new rooms include 34 standard rooms, 18 deluxe rooms and 2 executive suites. The standard rooms are air-conditioned, with 2 3-quarter beds, a hairdryer, tea facilities, mini bar fridge and free Wi-Fi. Our deluxe and executive rooms offer guests more space with world-class amenities. Activities include hiking, day walks, golf, cycling, trout fishing, bird watching and game drives.
