KENYA AIRWAYS ADDS DIRECT FLIGHTS
Kenya Airways is set to introduce 2 additional direct flights to its Cape Town-Nairobi service from 27 October 2019. The flights will join the 3 existing weekly flights on the route and will be operated by a Boeing 737-800. The flights are in addition to those already operating via Livingstone and Victoria Falls, bringing the total to 12 weekly flights added to the Cape Town network.

GAUTENG: MAINTENANCE ON THE PRETORIA RAILWAY
There is currently railway construction taking place at the Pretoria area and some of the railway infrastructures will be worked on an on-going basis. However, the maintenance taking place at the Pretoria station will have minimal to no impact on the operations of the Blue Train.

GAUTENG: NEW HOTEL OPENS IN SANDTON
The Ivy Villa Hotel & Spa has opened in Strathaven, Sandton, and features Grand Luxe Rooms and the Grand King Suite. Villa Suites are set to open soon, featuring ground floor, first floor and presidential suites. The conference venue can accommodate 190 delegates and other facilities include a Camelot Spa and a butler services. The hotel is pet-friendly and offers guests pet bedding, treats, a walking map and access to a pet sitter.

WESTERN CAPE: POOL REPAIRS AT THE REX
aha The Rex Hotel in Knysna is currently repairing the pool and is scheduled to be completed by 2 September 2019 if all repairs go according to plan. Work on the pool will take place between 8am and 5pm.

WESTERN CAPE: UPGRADES AT DELAIRE GRAFF ESTATE
The new extension to the Delaire Graff Estate, Owner’s Villa, has opened. The villa can accommodate up to 8 guests in 4 bedrooms and features a custom-built wine-cellar and a dedicated butler service. The dining menu is created by the villa’s chef, from locally sourced ingredients and the villa also features a 14m pool.

TANZANIA: MARRIOTT EXPANDS IN TANZANIA
Marriott International has opened the Four Points by Sheraton Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. The property is in the heart of the central business district, overlooking the harbour, and offers 174 rooms including suites. Facilities at the hotel include all-day dining, a coffee shop, a lounge bar, an outdoor pool and a fitness centre and 12 meeting and banquet spaces.

UGANDA: UPGRADES AT MOUNT ELGON
Metallic foot ladders have recently been constructed in the Mount Elgon area of Sironko District, allowing visitors to easily access amenities and increase tourism. Many of the major trails are underdeveloped and climbing the mountain poses a physical challenge for most hikers. The 3 main trails on Mount Elgon are the Piswa and Sasa trails, along with the recently developed Sipi trail. Sasa is the most frequently used trail and the new ladders will reduce the overall hiking time. So far, the ladders have been built in Butandiga, Elgon, Bukyabo, Zesui, Masaba and Bugitimwa sub-counties.

ZIMBABWE: KHULU BUSH CAMP REFURBISHMENT
Amalinda Safari Collection is in the process of refurbishing Khulu Bush Camp in Hwange National Park. The camp is adding 3 new tents, taking the maximum number of guests to 18, and will open for bookings by the end of October.
