KWAZULU-NATAL: NEW LUXURY ECO-LODGE
A new luxury lodge is under construction in the 23 000-hectare ‘big 5’ Nambiti Private Game Reserve in northern KwaZulu-Natal. ‘The Homestead’ is scheduled to open in late 2021 and will operate with a low-impact on its surroundings. Accommodating up to 24 guests in a combination of deluxe suites with private infinity pools and luxury units, the lodge will combine privacy with panoramic views of the reserve. The main lodge will offer dining venues, conference facilities, a spa, gym and swimming pool.

WESTERN CAPE: ONE&ONLY RE-OPENS
The One&Only Cape Town recently reopened on 15 October, and has been voted #11 in the Top 30 Hotels in Africa at the Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards 2020. Guests visiting the One&Only Cape Town can enjoy curated experiences including a South African wine blending experience, Nobu sushi master class, mixology master class, Inveroche tour & helicopter flight, summiting the city’s iconic mountains and a kids waterfront walkabout.

NAMIBIA: EASING OF INBOUND TRAVEL REGULATIONS
In an easing of travel restrictions, travellers to Namibia now only need a negative PCR test. This comes after the country opened to all international travel via Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek on 1 September. In a briefing on 21 October, Namibian President, Dr Hage G. Geingob, announced new health and safety measures for travel that will be implemented from 22 October until midnight on 30 November. They include the withdrawal of the mandatory re-taking of the PCR test after five days in the country. Now travellers only need to present a negative PCR test that is not older than 72 hours and no further testing is required.

ZIMBABWE: COVID-19 TESTING AT MAJOR AIRPORTS
Zimbabwe has set up facilities to expedite COVID-19 and other tests at the country’s 3 major airports whenever the need arises. Following the resumption of domestic and international flights, Lancet, Genau and Ampath laboratories have commissioned testing facilities at Robert Gabriel Mugabe (Harare), Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo (Bulawayo) and Victoria Falls International Airports. As part of measures to guarantee the safety of travellers, those showing COVID-19 symptoms – whether or not they have a COVID-19-free certificate – will be tested. A nominal fee of US$60 will be levied on travellers tested at ports of entry. Other measures include installation of sanitiser booths at the three international airports.

ZIMBABWE: FASTJET ZIM TO RE-INTRODUCE VFA-JNB FLIGHTS
Fastjet Zimbabwe is set to reintroduce flights between Victoria Falls and Johannesburg from Thursday 3 December. Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, departing from O.R. Tambo International Airport at 11h10, arriving in Victoria Falls at 12h50. The return flight will depart Victoria Falls at 13h20, arriving at O.R. Tambo International Airport at 14h55. The airline has also announced additional return flights between Harare and Johannesburg. “Effective Monday, November 9, we will be adding flight frequencies between Harare’s Robert Mugabe International Airport and O.R. Tambo International Airport.” ~ Ed Berry, Accountable Manager of Fastjet Zimbabwe. Flights will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, departing Johannesburg at 06h50 and arriving in Harare at 08h30. The return flight will depart Harare at 08h55 and arrive in Johannesburg at 10h40.
