WESTERN CAPE: SA BEACH NAMED SECOND-BEST BEACH IN THE WORLD
At the Golden Beach Awards 2024, the renowned Boulders Beach was named the world’s second-best beach. The beach is well-known for its African penguin population.
The Golden Beach Awards assessed not just the visual appeal of the beaches, but also considered diverse criteria such as the value to the local community, DEI, lifestyle offerings, and cultural significance.
WESTERN CAPE: BLAAUWKLIPPEN MANOR HOUSE UPDATE
This past weekend, a horrific fire broke through the historic Blaauwklippen Manor House, destroying the ancient estate’s Manor. All guests and staff were safely evacuated with the help of Blaauwklippen’s Disaster Management team, personnel, and local fire rescue agencies, and no injuries were sustained. The owners made a clear commitment to rebuild and restore the Manor House.
WESTERN CAPE: RADISSON HOTEL CAPE TOWN FORESHORE
In a few days, Park Inn Cape Town Foreshore Hotel will be rebranded as the Radisson Hotel Cape Town Foreshore, bringing the renowned Radisson brand to South Africa’s “Mother City.”
Located minutes away from the International Convention Centre (CTICC) and the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Radisson Hotel Cape Town Foreshore will mark the Group’s third Radisson property in South Africa.
SOUTH AFRICA: INTERNATIONAL ARRIVALS GROW
South Africa’s inbound international arrivals increased by 8% in February compared to the same period last year, according to the February 2024 Tourism and Migrations Statistics report published by Statistics SA.
Overall, international arrivals increased from 192 835 in February 2023 to 209 545 in February. Arrivals from Europe, North America, Central and South America, and Asia all increased in February.
REGIONAL: LUFTHANSA’S AFRICAN NETWORK EXPANSIONS
The Lufthansa Group said at the beginning of the year that it would not only increase flights to Southern and East Africa on current routes but also revive and build new ones. The Group has a significant presence in Southern and East Africa. Its subsidiaries, Lufthansa, SWISS, Discover Airlines, Austrian Airlines, and Edelweiss, fly from significant destinations including South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Mauritius.
